the little king and i : last 3 days...

thewife will be back this afternoon and i'm on 1/2 day leave to go pick her up from the airport. cant wait to see her again..

3-day training finally over yesterday. Brain saturated with info but I guess I got abt 60-70% of it all.

Tuesday night was bad as I was suffering the whole night with diarrhea. Was in the toilet for around 5-6 times from 12am to 6am… I lost count actually…Not sure what I ate wrong..pizza? Indian noodles at office?

Wednesday night was not much better. Theson woke up at 2am -4am and wanted to go outside. So took him outside to watch his tv. We slept 1st on the couch but he was hogging 70% of the space so I took out the mobile mattress from the other room.

Last night was better. Theson slept thru the night but he was a bit more difficult with his milk. And he even turned down my oats yesterday:-P

I survive the last few days on oats, icecream, chocs, noodles and spaghetti olio which I made for myself yesterday.

Theson was ok for the whole week but he threw more tantrums ..but maybe he missed his mother.

Talked sporadically to thewife the last few days. I think both of us were really drained the last few days with training and me with my 7am meetings.

8 more hours to go....

the little king and i : tuesday

thson had some weird dreams yesterday. he woke up in teh middle of the night twice asking for medicine the 1st time and his color pencils the next. he slept with his colour pencils till the morning. had to change him at around 3am as well as his diapers overflowed.. (and he wears xxl..??!!!???)

left the house at 640am and left theson at thebabysitter at 650am.
reached the office with 2minutes to spare for my 7am meeting. went for a quick breakfast with some of the guys and went for my full day training. mentally drined by 11am and struggling to keep my eyes awake at 300pm. statistics is a necessity eventhough it may be slightly boring.
variation is the enemy of quality..:-) i did learn something today...

talked to thewife on and off and sms her when i had time. she was pretty busy as well. and she also had a bad dream last night. luckyliky my sis was bunking over at the hotel with her. well, actually, she was dead asleep... :-) but i believe her presence helped. thewife will be going for a japanese dinner tonight.

class finished early (2more days to go though :-P) but i had a 500pm meeting with myboss and kitty, which overan til 620pm.
picked up theson and back home by 7oopm. traffic jam again at the "middle road" and the haze has not gone away.
cooked oats for dinner and theson ate 1/2 the bowl again... he's a growing boy. and i'm still hungry. think i'll go re-grill the pizza my aunt made later. thewife called at around 730pm and talked to theson. these days he doesnt talk much on the phone, i guess tthe novelty has worn off on him....hehehe... he really gets bored easily...
well, he was busy playing with his cars and reading his books and hes watching barney (xmas dvd) now. at least he's finished his milk. thank god for that..
putting him to sleep soon and i'll be sleeping early as well... its been a very long day and i'm pooped...

bad air.. again

The air quality just went from bad to worse. I cant see the hills anymore and I can barely see the apartment block 1 km away. I can barely see the plane flying overhead at the office as well.
this air problem seesm to becoming a yearly event... and it does not seem to be getting better.

And my eyes are watering and my throat is sore. Thewife’s eyes also was irritated a few days back. i hope theson doesnt fall sick...
We’ve been actually living with the fan at full blast and doors all closed. and I’m actually happier with in the fully contained aircon environment in the office.

what the heck will we ever do if there was a power failure?
:-P

the little king and i : sunday/monday

Talked to thewife last night for around ½ an hour. we seem to talk more when shes away than when she actually here. Why u may ask? Well its easy..
Because since we don’t see each other, we actually talk more about what we experience alone for the day vs when we’re together and we already experience everything “together”.
well, thats my logic anyway.. :-P
kissed theson for her last night...

theson seems to be taking it well for now.. has not asked for his mother yet. even when he woke up today.
though, i did have to retrain him to drink milk by himself as he bullied thewife into feeding him the past week. well, not me...!!! so far he managed to drink by himself this morning already..

anyway, thewife's training yesterday was from 3pm to 7pm. jeez...what company has training on a sunday? the one i work in, thats who..!!!
she mentioned that she could not bring herself to eat meat. felt nauseous when she saw beef during dinner. looks like the pregnancy is kicking in and she may have to go vegetarian.. hahaha...!!!
my sis also drove back to her home in the capital yesterday and reached around the same time as thewife. seems they went out for lunch.

thewife just called me... seems she could not sleep much and slept from 3am to 730am .. so she skipped breakfast and went for her training. i think her training schedule is darn tight as twice already she said, "talk to you later, i have 3mins left only" ... hehehe...!!!!

hope she can last the week there... without us..

i ate the leftover pizza, cake-in-a-cone (its actually quite yummy... my aunt made it and the pizza as well), last 1 piece of the double choc doughnut and the last cream puff for dinner yeaterday. shared the doughnut with theson since he likes it a lot as well.

oh yea, i even managed to clean "parts" of the house and do the laundry as well..
and remembered to feed the fish and water the plants...
hope we 2 can last the week here.... without her..

miss thewife

dinner with thewifes staff

this happened last friday with thewifes 4 supervisors, in conjuction with the ramadan fast breaking in the evening.
dinner this time around was at a hotel in town with a seafood all you can eat buffet.
by the way we were also close to 45mins late due to the crappy friday traffic jam. lucky the new expressway had opened as we saved a lot of time on it.
we also dropped off my sis at her friends place for dinner. she stayed over at our place yesterday and for tonight as well. spending quality time with thewife and theson... and helping take care of theson as well...

note that the previous day, we had our 7 course dinner and i was actually still quite full... :-)
and friday lunch was at home since thewife cooked her excellent spagetthi olio (...which i had 2 huge plates of...)
i didnt think that i could eat much but i definitely surprised myself.. hehehe... yea, i'm a pig...!!!

anyway, things that i ate:
boiled mussels
mussel and oyster omelette
prawn tempura
grilled stingray
grilled squid
boiled squid
jellyfish salad
dessert was ice cream with sweeteened red beans minus the shaved ice.. as well as other cakes and pastries..

there were loads of other food but they didnt really interest me like chilli crabs, sushi, sashimi, etc...
overall, dinner was quite fun because of the company and the food was 7/10 (mostly due to the grilled stuff and tempura..... and also because dessert was just so-so..)

dinner with the family

had dinner with the family last thursday since my sis was back home
we were also late as there was a massive jam right outside the factory.. really sucked...!!!
anyway the menu was..
-lotus leave rice (huge portion with mushrooms and sliced chinese sausages...)
-4 seasons with braised chicken, fancy springrolls with salted egg, and dumpling, etc
-shark fin soup with crabmeat and jellyfish i guess
-suckling pig, supposed to eat only the yummy crispy skin.
-deep fried chilli prawns, 2 variety ( may fav dish of the whole meal...)
-mixed veg with abalone (not my favourite and i dont really like abalone, though its expensive as heck...)
-warm "longan" soup with lotus paste pancake

some of the food may sound exotic and weird but its quite normal where we're at.. and some of them quite expensive as well..
the menu was actually for 10 but we were only 7.. we were practically stuffed by the time the 5 course came out. i believe everyone was very happy with the food.
overall dinner was a perfect 10 and i'm definitely going back to that restaurant next time, if ever..

by the way, my sis quit her job last week but she did not tell the family as she doesnt want them to worry.
and thefamily always worries way way too much... really...
well, shes going for a few interviews this week so i'm not very worried.

lonely....

sigh.
sigh....
sigh...............

am all alone at home.
thewife has left on a flight this morning to the nations capital for a 1week training.
so its ust me and theson for the whole week. i hope he goes easy on me and dont bully me around much.
theson seemed to noticed that his mum was going away for the week and was extra clingly :-)
i had breakfast at the airport and there seemed to be a lot of people from the factory there.. jeez..
anyway, thewife was on the same flight as my dept manager and they'll be at the training together with tons of other folks from the region.

thewife just called me and said she has arrived at the hotel. seems its better than the hotel room that we were in for our recent holiday but not the best one she's been in. she supposed to meet my sis and her friend later tonight.

you know, normal guys would be rejoicing to have a week all to themselves.. but me..?
i cant seem to go out alone these days..
i'll probably go out to get a subway sandwich or hit the closest Pizzahut or McD.
or maybe some baskins and robbins...
actually, i rather stay home and watch some movies or jonstewart/colbert report..
or just sleep...

miss thewife a lot already........ :-(

goodnews

Sometimes its good to be wrong..

It looks like thewife did not really have her period yet. Just some mild spotting which is potential signs of pregnancy (from google).
Anyway, so we went to the doctor yesterday and eventhough he said it was too early to know (even from urine test), he said a blood test would confirm it.
Oh! guess what??!!??!!, the blood test results came in today and it was positive..

YAAAAAAAAY……!!!!!!!

Thewife already had her celebration yesterday night with a crab dinner.

dear theson :1

Dear theson,
The secret ot making a woman happy:-
1. Make her feel loved, meaning talk to her and listen to her.
2. Massage her feet without being asked to.

That’s it.

Love,
yourfather

death in the family

thewife’s aunt passed away last thursday. It was very sudden. She died in her sleep. This is thewifes fathers sister. 3 more sisters left. And we just saw her the previous Saturday when we went to pass her some cakes.

thewife went over to help out on thursday night and i went over on friday night with theson. as usual, there were loads of friends/relatives that that i could not recognize. a lot of thewife's cousins were around.

It would seem thewife’s mum’s long standing grudge will not end as well as she did not want to go over to talk pay her respects at first. Thewife was not happy and she made it known. and in the end, it seems thewife's mum went over the next day. so all is well, i guess.

thewife recounted some stories abt her aunt who was a good cook, seamstress, babysitter and she was also the one who taught thewife to knit. but she had a hard life as in the end she was still working and she was 73 already.
again, it teaches us not to take our old folks for granted.

the funeral was on saturday. again, i was awarded a blue sash and a black umbrella since i was the "nephew-in-law" person. me and thewifes sisters husband actually led the procession when the hearse moved out from the house before we boarded the bus. she was cremated at the same place thewife's dad was cremated. the bus trip there tooks around 30mins and the ceremony was relatively short and simple.

mantis prawn

again, a late post from 2 weeks back...............pre-lantern festival dinner..

We had a seafood dinner before heading for the lantern festival thingie. Its been ages since thewife and I have been to a seafood dinner. Theson already ate earlier so he was there basically for the noodles and “drinks” only. We ordered baked crab, baked mantis prawn, spicy prawns, noodles and fried icecream. Only thing missing was the meat-on-a-stick. The guy selling it was not around yet. and, i should've ordered the soft-shelled-crab as well.

anyway, I was actually pretty freaked out over the mantis prawn. Normally, I get the deep fried type where the meat has been removed from the shell and is fried in batter. for the baked version the meat is still in its shell and you have to pry the meat out by yourself. And it looks really freaky… you know why? well, why is it called mantis prawn in the first place?
You know like hammerhead-sharks has a heads shaped like hammers, right?
or a catfish sorta looks like a cat with its whiskers and all.... Well, the mantis prawn has a head that looks like a freakin praying-mantis...(or a cockroach even)… damm!!
Eventhough the meat was quite tasty, I had to keep looking away when I was eating the thing. Not ordering the baked version anymore…

badnews

Bad news, the wife just had her period :-(
it was delayed a few days. we were hopeful but alas she's not pregnant.
she wanted to do the test yesterday but i told her to be patient as i was so sure she's be positive.
well, try and try again …

lantern festival

took theson back to thewifes mum place for the lantern festival celebration, 2 saturdays back. all thesons cousins would be there so we thought it would be good for him to experience it. I actually thought it would be a small thing with like 10kids and a few adults. In actual fact, there were close to 40 kids/adult with dinner and entertainment provided. all funded by the local ruling political party..
in terms of lanterns, the majority was the modern battery powered lanterns but there were also a few lanterns that were candle/flame powered. Some even went up in flames.
Theson had his trusty superman lantern powered by batteries of course. We actually had a lantern procession and everyone walked around the block. There was even a “showgirl” songstress doing her routine on a tiny little stage platform in front of all these kids. Quite funny.

mydad@themovies

found out that my dad (the grandfather) has already watched a new movie in the cinema that i havent even seen yet . the grandmother did not follow as she hates cinemas.
my dad actually went by himself on one of those days where the tickets were cheap. and it was one of those movies that i had wanted to watch "the banquet". i think he goes to teh movies more often than i do. i on the other hand need to take leave just to watch a movie with thewife. how sad we are...:-P

anyway, my dad is quite independent on the motorcycle but sometimes i'm also afraid for him. there are a lot of bad drivers out there on the streets.
my sister will also be back soon and mydad wants the whole family to go for a "banquet". the 8-course types with roast piglet, mantis prawns, etc. he wants to treat us as he won some money gambling. thewife is sourcing for the restaurant and it looks like it should happen soon.
cant wait... yummmmy....!!!!

visiting weekend

Went to my dad/mum’s place on Sat and thewife’s mum’s place on Sun.
its been a while since we did the 2 places in a single weekend. normally we go to only 1 place per weekend as that leaves us some breathing space for ourselves on the remaining weekends.
anyway i realised now that :
-distance travelled is close to 100km
-we have too much food in the fridge as both mum's always give us lots of food.
looks like i'll be eating leftovers til the middle of next week.
