i could be..

in a plane heading to costa rica right now. I have no regrets about
not going. Family comes first. Babysitter is away for 1whole week and
i cant leave thewife alone with #2. She'll go bonkers. I hoping they
grow up faster so that i dont have to sacrifice more trips.

black knee

When I went to pick up #1 a few days ago I saw a familiar sight.

One of the kids also suffered from “black-knee-itis”.

Actually most of the kids suffered from the same symptoms.

#1 needs to brush his knees every day when he bathes.

What do the teacher make them do? Walk on their knees?

The mystery now to me is, how do their knees get that way in the 1st place?

FW: love me not?

#2 is full of surprises these days.

He really knows how to utilize his cute factor to the maximum.

When you least expect it, he will suddenly come up to you and ask “love me not?”

When you are angry with him and he’s crying he will surely ask “love me not?”

We always say we love him even if hes a naughty boy but then he’ll say hes a clever boy.

He also seems to be stuck like glue to thewife.

Separation anxiety?

30seconds

All it takes it 30second and he already killed my mood for the whole day.

Sigh…

He’s seem to challenging us at every turn matter how good/bad we do.

So everything we do never seems right.

Gee, Thanks boss.

At least he’s consistent, right?

no longer reliable??

Reviews show that nokia may not be the best choice for a smartphone.

I was very surprised.

Looks like I need to do more research and hv more patience.

Well at least until my 5700 fully falls apart.

I’m still hopeful to find a good nokia though.

Keep on looking then.

changing trains

train seemed to have changed direction and well for the better.

Not that they were doing bad.

They did hit it big with “drops of Jupiter” and “meet Virginia”

Now the twist is that they added a ukulele and the new single” hey soul sister” sounds really great.

Though the lead guitarist looks really funny playing the ukulele. :-)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVpv8-5XWOI

It my new “happy” song.

double standards

one thing i can count on thewife is her double standards. :-)
but i think all women are like that.
i think ALL wives are like that

always remember:

  • if they can do it, doesn't mean you can.
  • if they complain about it , doesn't mean that you can.
  • them messing up is not the same as you messing up. your mess is always worse even if it was the exact same thing.
  • and never never ever ever use something on her that she once used on you. :-D

but then again we always forget....dont we..
and i'm frequently guilty of a 1 track mind.
:-P

head hunted internally..

it was all so strange.
this manager i knew, asked me if i was free and then took me to a room for a "casual chat".
he asked me what i  was doing these days and then he dropped the bombshell..
he asked me if i wanted to change jobs to be a engr supt, running 9 to 9 shift.
wow..
i don't think so..!!!

somewhere over the rainbow

Saw a really cool rainbow this morning

I took this on my nokia hp :-P with panorama feature from the 20-something floor of the twin towers of #2’s babysitters place..

time changes everything

In the old days, I would be arguing with thewife abt #1 and #2

These days I argue less with thewife but more with #1 and #2.

How ironic..

Both of them are quite bossy.

musically inclined...

#2 can sing along to firehouse's love of a lifetime.
the good things in life are indeed free.

he loves to sing and hum to any music, be it on the tv or radio and hes got his moods for music as well.
he loves to be the backseat radio controller, i like that song, i dont like that song. very demanding little boy..
he always loves his thomas rap but still seem to prefer a lot of acoustic songs.

maxis and apple sucks...

i am really angry with apple and maxis.
when you have a damaged phone, you would expect the place where you bought the phone or service center to help to repair it, right?
but lo and behold, no.
a big fat NO.

if you dropped your phone or it has water damage, they will not even look at your phone.
maxis and apple do not and WILL NOT help.
what great service they provide.

thank god for 3rd party hackers and repairers.
we got the water damaged iphone fixed in 45mins at $50 at a nearby mall.
we would've willingly paid more if it cost more.

i definitely sticking to my nokia.

no pain no gain

we've starting to learn chords these days so my fingers are stating to hurt. a lot.
my "guitar" partner did not manage to attend the last class so i mms-ed her the homework.

i'm actually using thewife's old notes and books for practice.
so far, i can play twinkle2, the intro for ode to joy and lightly row.

practice, practice, practice.

born free

one thing that we realized is that it will be difficult for us to have guests in the house or even to live with our in laws.
we cant "talk freely"
we cant "move freely"
we cant "dress freely"
and she was so much more "constrained" than me :-)

my dad woke up at around 8am.
we woke up at 9am+.

hes already a good granpa

because hes talking, reading books and playing toys with his grand sons.

when i was growing up, i never had any memory of my dad reading to me or playing with me though.
but, i have a very distinct memory of riding around on the bike with him, either in the basket or in the back seat, going to the movies.

the memory of my granpa was of him sitting in his chair and giving me apples and boxed dutch lady milk. he didn't say much. i'll just leave it at that.
so my dad is definitely a better grandad already than his father was.

why do you want to have kids?

my best man asked me that question last week during lunch.
i didn't really have a good answer and neither did my other married friend
leave my legacy,
pass on my comics books,
for the experience,
etc...

in truth,
i cant remember why but i definitely know that i cant imagine life without them.

6 days..

.. in the hospital is no joke.
a friend of mine just spend that amount of time in the black hole of the hospital.
it was her 1st time and her kid is not even 2 yet.
lack of sleep, exhausted, crappy food, cramped 4 walls does not a good equation make.

i don't even want to remember the last time we did that,

breaking news

iPhone shares same fate as nokia.

Drowns in toilet bowl.

The iphone is now resting in a bed of rice , recovering.

What are the odds of that happening right? But it has.

And the best part was that she dreamt abt it days before.

Precognition?

Now she just to dream abt numbers.

so many things to do

My leisure activities at the moment

·         Read books

·         Play ps3 games

·         Practise guitar

·         Watch movies with thewife

·         Watch movies with the guys

I definitely do not hv time to do all the above.

survival of the cutest

As a second born, you’ll tend to develop some survival instincts to help you survive your bigger sibling/s..

·         Run faster

·         Be cuter

·         Shout louder

·         Bite harder

·         Be tougher

:-)

barely breathing

I’m seriously drowning in work..

So much to do that I don’t know where to begin and I can see no end ..

Think I hv to clear mail during the holidays.

I hv ~2000+ emails to file.

Really….

Sigh………

#2 @ 2yrs 9mths

#2’s vocab is getting pretty good for this age. He’s not even 3 yet and he’s already conversing in full sentences.

The downside is that hes not picking up mandarin as his babysitter is Cantonese.

Funny things that he says.

Uh huh (this is his “yes”),

What? (when u call him),

No problem (when I told him to do something properly),

Beh tiah ua (him scolding his brother),

Saya makan nasi lemak. (Sometimes he says “roti mamak”),

I’m not naughty boy, I’m clever boy.

Hes a very cheeky boy and has no qualms abt hitting his brother or me or thewife and screaming his head off.

We fear him.

I took him to kindermusik for a trial class. We lasted only 10minutes. He made the kids there cry and he was the youngest.

i wish...

I had my guitar now with me..

Itching to go home to try out “love of  lifetime” and “when the children cry”..

secrets

Secrets can’t be kept by 7yr olds .

Twice already we tested this out and both times “pecah rahsia’.. secrets broken :-)

1st time was a birthday card project for thewife that was supposed to be hush hush.

2nd time was a surprise cake for me from thewife that she bought with #1. (papa, there is a surprise cake. Sssh.. don’t tell anyone ah..it’s a secret)

It’s just so funny as he was so happy to tell us to not tell anyone.

He has not learnt the concept of secret yet.

disjointed holidays

This week is going to be weird.

My office has  public holiday on thu/fri and thewife is PH on fri/mon.

Total off days is 5 days but we only really see each other 3 days.

new skill

I’ve always wanted to learn to play the guitar. I love the sound of the guitar, be it acoustic or classical.

I guess I never found the time or never took it seriously enough to start.

Well, thanks to thewife, I’ve now been taking guitar lessons.

she said that I have a talent and I think I do have a gift. :-)

After 2 lessons, I can now read the notes and tabs a bit and I’m able to play “twinkle2” and the intro to “ode to joy”.. 2 very simple songs.

I aim to be able to play a full song..

grape

Watched “whats eating Gilbert grape?” with thewife.

She has never seen it so i made a point to find it for her as it’s a very good movie.

She cried. :-)

The scene where the mother leaves the house to go to the police station to get arnie back is both funny and very touching.

The things a mother would do for their children.

I think Johnny depp and leo dicaprio were really outstanding in this moving. A really stellar performance from them.

I wish we had more movies like this.

a chip off the ...

#1 tried to carry #2 .

#2 was too heavy and #1 dropped him.

#2 fell on this face and chipped his font tooth on the floor.

It was a significant chip but luckily no nerve damage.

Dentist say to just monitor and Luckily its his baby tooth.

This is another one of those heart attack moments.

another year older

What a rushed start to a birthday…

Alarm woke me at 600am then it started raining and then I woke up again at 710am… :-)

#1 and #2 ready by 735am and completed drop by 8am.

In Toyota by 815am and now here I am still waiting for my car to be ready.

Thankfully, the wifi here in in Toyota is damm fast..

By the way, got my 1st birthday sms at 645am.

flavor of the month

Have more urgency

step up

take leadership

deal with ambiguity

I think I’m been complaining too much already….

milk is gold, i say....

I wonder when the day will come when I hv to go rob a bank to  buy milk

A tin each of #1 and #2’s milk coat already $210

Milk will soon cost the same as gold..

I wait for the day..

silver car

The new silver car..

we could not bring ourselves to spend more than $100000 on a car...

we test drove a few cars and finally settled on the new G.

I managed to push this car up to 150kmph on the highway.

Not as smooth as the chevy but it gets the job done.

the old chevy  sucked after the timing belt change..

just too much $ to maintain

failure to communicate

"what we got here is failure to communicate.. some men you just can't reach.."

its a quote from cool hand luke..
i first heard this from the beginning of Guns n roses "Civil war"

i feel like that quote really calls out to me..
for the last 3 weeks, we're been told what is needed and we've been telling what we need but in the end it sure feels like nothing is moving.
i'm just really tired.

heres the link...

am i luke or am i the warden?
